چکیده

Microreactor technology represents a new and promising approach to carry out analytical and organic chemistry. 1 This is mainly due to the numerous advantages, especially in terms of increased surfaceto-volume ratio as a result of the downsizing of the dimensions (order of microns). This allows a better and faster mixing between the components of a reaction. The small dimensions created within the channeling system increase the heat and mass transfer and facilitate the handling of exothermic and runaway reactions. 2 The large surface available within a microreactor can be exploited in catalysis, offering the possibility to increase the rate and the yield of a reaction. The use of polymer brushes anchored on the inner walls of glass microreactors offers the possibility to perform heterogeneous catalysis inside the chip (Figure 1).

Gallium-containing polymer brush film as efficient supported Lewis acid catalyst in a glass microreactor

Polystyrene sulfonate polymer brushes, grown on the interior of the microchannels in a microreactor, have been used for the anchoring of gallium as a Lewis acid catalyst. Initially, gallium-containing polymer brushes were grown on a flat silicon oxide surface and were characterized by FTIR, ellipsometry, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). XPS revealed the presence of one gallium per 2-...

Piperazine-Containing Polymer Brush Layer as Supported Base Catalyst in a Glass Microreactor

The covalent attachment of piperazine onto the inner walls of a microreactor using glycidyl methacrylate polymer brushes has been demonstrated. The piperazine-containing polymer brushes were first grown on a flat silicon oxide surface and were characterized by contact angle, Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), ellipsometry, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The applicability of the ca...

Magnetic Nanoparticles Functionalized with Dendritic Polymer as a Host for Immobilization of MoO2(acac)2 and Investigation of its Catalytic Activity in the Epoxidation of Alkenes

The new heterogeneous catalyst based on MoO2(acac)2 immobilized on superparamagnetic nanoparticle functionalized with dendrimer was synthesized. The dendrimer with amine and sulfur functional groups offer proper positions for a strong connection between MoO2(acac)2 and support. The synthesized catalyst was characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy, ICP, TGA, SEM, TEM, and XRD. This catalyst showed hi...

Surface Immobilization of pH-Responsive Polymer Brushes on Mesoporous Silica Nanoparticles by Enzyme Mimetic Catalytic ATRP for Controlled Cargo Release

Peroxidase mimetic catalytic atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) was first used to install tertiary amine-functionalized polymer brushes on the surface of mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) in a facile and highly efficient manner. Poly(N,N-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate) (PDMAEMA) brushes-grafted MSNs were fabricated by biocompatible deuteroheminβ-Ala-His-Thr-Val-Glu-Lys (DhHP-6)-c...
